You want to develop your leaders, but first things first: how much will this cost?
We get it. Many traditional approaches to leadership development feel like lighting dollar bills on fire. No one enjoys shelling out for a one-day seminar that leaves you wondering, “Did that actually change anything?”
That’s where The Metiss Group’s Leadership Essentials Playbook™ comes in. It’s structured, research-backed, and designed to make actual leaders — not just people who attended a workshop.
So, what does it cost? And more importantly, is it worth it? Let’s talk numbers, what drives them up (or down), and how to make sure you’re investing wisely.
The investment depends on whether you choose The Leadership Essentials Playbook™ group vs. personalized.
If you’re developing one leader at a time, the full program investment ranges from $5,000 to $8,000 per leader. If you’re developing a group of at least eight leaders together, the investment per leader drops to $3,000 to $6,000. The total investment will be higher for a group, but the cost per person is significantly lower.
In both versions of The Leadership Essentials Playbook™, new and experienced leaders alike will strengthen their foundational skills over four to six months.
The personalized version offers flexible, self-paced learning with monthly videos, one-on-one coaching, and practical application.
The group version starts with a self-discovery suite of assessments, one-one-one coaching, and a full-day, in-person workshop. It's then followed by real-world application, coaching, and a half-day follow-up session to reinforce key leadership practices.
While the individual track provides the flexibility to grow on your own schedule, the group format builds camaraderie, accountability, and stronger team synergy.
Some organizations end up investing more in leadership development because they see the value in going deeper.
One factor that increases investment is additional one-on-one coaching. While the standard program already includes coaching, some leaders benefit from more personalized sessions to work through challenges and apply what they’re learning at a higher level. For those who want more of that direct support, it can be added as an extra investment.
What we’ve found in many clients is they’re used to traditional seminars or lunch-and-learns that provide a quick dose of information with little follow-up. Once they get a dose of the 70-20-10 model for sticky learning, they start seeing real growth, and sometimes these leaders ask for additional coaching to keep the momentum going.
Beyond that, some leaders simply develop a hunger for more. In any leadership development group, we’ve found about 10 to 20% of participants become completely immersed in the process. They don’t just complete the program — they want to keep growing.
For those individuals, organizations often continue investing in further development, such as The Emotional Intelligence Journey™.
The truth is, investing in leadership development is most valuable when it’s focused on the right people. It’s better to put resources into leaders who are committed to growth than to waste time and money trying to develop people who aren’t interested or who think they already know it all.
Organizations looking to develop a large group of leaders can lower the cost per person. While the total investment increases with a larger group, the per-leader cost is significantly reduced. For companies that want to build a leadership culture across an entire team, this makes the most sense.
Let’s put these numbers into perspective. One of our large clients signed up 28 of their leaders for The Leadership Essentials Playbook™ Group. Their total investment was $62,285, which comes out to $2,224 per leader for the program.
A more common number we see, though, is companies investing in The Leadership Essentials Playbook™ group for 12-14 leaders. This total investment would be in a range of $36,000 to $39,700.
Another smaller client wanted to just send three leaders through the program, so they chose The Leadership Essentials Playbook™ Personalized. Their total investment was $14,400, or $4,800 per leader. (And to get the group “cohort” feeling, they watched the training videos in a room together. Love that idea!)
No, the pricing for The Leadership Essentials Playbook™ is not negotiable.
The Metiss Group builds its business largely on referrals, and maintaining consistent pricing ensures fairness for all clients. The cost reflects the true value of the program, and variable pricing would create an unfair advantage for some while devaluing the experience for others.
The investment is set at a level that ensures every participant receives the same high-quality leadership development.
The first step is to think about who in your organization needs this. Are you developing just a few key leaders, or do you want to build a leadership culture across a team? From there, choosing between the individual and group formats will determine the investment per leader.
It’s also worth considering the long-term impact. Some leaders will go through the program, apply what they’ve learned, and move forward. Others will become truly engaged in leadership growth and will want more. Investing in those high-potential leaders will always bring the greatest return.
Remember, leadership development isn’t an expense — it’s an investment in the people who will carry your organization forward.
